Love Letter to My Library: Writer in Residence Program

We're grateful to Minnie A. for writing this Love Letter.

My journey as a writer is an ongoing adventure. I truly believe that the library in my neighborhood near downtown Tucson helped me heal as a high school student. I did not know at the time how much bigger writing was than me. My family was unable to purchase books and we relied on the library. It was so inspiring to find memoires about real people who I connected with while reading.

The Writer in Residence Program at Pima County Public Library is giving me a deeper connection to writers and myself. I have met three writers. Each person has challenged me and pushed my creative abilities to a place I never thought possible. After meeting with Estella Gonzalez, a Writer in Residence, I got involved in a writing group. The four of us spark our imaginations and we are becoming lifelong writers.

I am excited to explore the transformative power of writing. I will continue to immerse myself in meeting the vibrant writers who share their experiences as the Writers in Residence.
