Desert Streams is a free, curated, streaming audio collection showcasing current local music from Tucson and greater Pima County. Brought to you by Pima County Public Library, Desert Streams is a space to celebrate and share Southern Arizona's rich music scene, in a user-friendly digital platform.
How can I listen to music?
Stream the Desert Streams collection in the embedded web player. Enjoy the collection without commercials and free of charge.
Want your music in our collection? Well, we do, too!
- Desert Streams puts out a call for submissions for a set time, two times per year.
- Up to 25 albums/EPs per submission round will be added to the collection.
- We are looking for music that was produced within the past five years, by musicians living and performing in Pima County.
- If you are interested in having your music considered for addition to our collections, you can upload one track on our online submission form pimadesertstreams.org/submit.
- Musicians can submit one track from only one album per submission period.
- A panel of curators who know the local music scene will review all tracks and then will select 25 albums/EPs each submission period for inclusion in the collection. Selection will be based on quality, diversity, representation, and connection to the Tucson/Pima County music scene.
- We will let you know whether your music was accepted or declined. If your music was declined, you can always submit the same track or a new track during the next round.
- Selected musicians will sign a licensing agreement and receive a $250 honorarium. In exchange, the Library will receive non-exclusive rights to stream the album/EP for a 5-year term.
Email us at desertstreams@pima.gov with additional questions.
Am I giving Pima County Public Library the copyright to my music?
No! We believe that artists should own the copyright to their work. If you sign the agreement with us, you’re licensing your work to PCPL, not transferring the copyright. Our licensing agreement is non-exclusive, which means that you can do whatever you want with your music, including sell it. And we hope that you’ll sell a lot of it. We can help by posting links on Desert Streams that show library customers where they can purchase your music and merch online.
