Proposed Power Line in Southeast Tucson

An application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) permit is now available for review at the W. Anne Gibson-Esmond Station Library.

A CEC permit is required for certain types of new power lines in the state of Arizona, and the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) reviews CEC applications and issues permits for projects that pass.

SWCA Environmental Consultants applied for a proposed ~6.6-mile-long power line that will connect a solar project to the electric grid.

The proposed power line will predominately follow Wilmot Road, north of Andrada Road. Public outreach and enhancing the community’s awareness and understanding of the project is part of the CEC process.

The application will be available for review through February 2024.
