Music Festivals + Library Card = ♬

It is music festival season! Did you know that many of the artists who have performed at SXSW (South by Southwest for the uninitiated) and Coachella have tracks on Freegal, the library’s free music download and streaming service?

A few festival headliners with lots of albums and songs on Freegal:

And here are some with just a few tracks available to whet your appetite:

For bands that aren't in the Freegal service, you can also check our catalog! We mostly focus on buying local music now, but we still have quite a few oldies but goodies from headliners like Guns 'N Roses: Appetite for DestructionCrystal Castles's self-titled album, and more.

SXSW wrapped up on March 20 and Coachella is coming up April 15 through April 24.  Whether you’re trying to decide which bands to see at Coachella (lucky you!) or wanting to hear the bands that generated buzz at SXSW, Freegal is a great way to permanently add tracks to your collection.  Like the name says, it is a free, legal and permanent way to download songs to your device, and now, you can even stream for a few hours a day. Use your Pima County Public Library card to create an account and enjoy five downloads every week.

Curious about which bands to check out first? Hear what music writers on Billboard and COS have to say about this year’s festival lineups. Happy listening!
