Art Exhibit ~ Morgain Ghost

Woods Memorial Library invites you to an exhibit by local artist Morgain Ghost, on display until January 3, 2026.

Artist Statement:

Morgain Ghost was born in New Mexico and has lived in Tucson for over twenty years.  She works in oil paint and mixed media.

Morgain’s interest in art started at a young age but was pushed to the back burner while she focused on dance.  After an early retirement due to injury she switched focus to study Studio Art and Art History at the University of Arizona.  During this time she also found mentorship with Tucson oil painter and sculptor Mykl Wells.  She would like to thank him as well as watercolor artist and illustrator Michael Chiago and Leland Lopez for their material support of her burgeoning art career.  Morgain finds inspiration and is influenced by the works of Joel Peter Witkin, Egon Schiele, Cindy Sherman and an array of miniature artists including Curtis Talwst Santiago and Amanda Kelly.

The miniatures Morgain creates include reproductions of furniture and objects from her own life. These compositions depict stories that are a blend of real and imagined.  Her distinctive color palette and mix of textures tie the pieces together and guide the eye from one piece to the next--details encourage viewers to interact with the narrative, even composing their own.
