Anyone can make a difference!

The COVID-19 pandemic has put libraries nationwide in uncharted territory. We miss our customers, we miss interacting with them, and we miss hosting programs that educate and inspire.

We've created this blog series, Stories from Before, chronicling the stories of customers who ♥ all the Library offers, be it Storytime or Summer Reading, Books By Mail, English Language Classes, and much more. We hope these uplifting stories can help us all get through these challenging times and think about a brighter future.

Anyone can make a difference! On Saturday, April 13, 2019, local youth attended the Rising Voices Youth Summit at the newly-renovated Flowing Wells Library. This annual event brings together young people ages 13 to 18 from across Pima County to discuss their concerns and plan projects that will make an impact in their schools, libraries, and communities.

Attendees participated in personalized leadership activities and brainstormed how Pima County Public Library can further support youth in making a difference. The event included networking with peers, identifying personal strengths, and helping teens deepen their engagement with the issues they’re most passionate about, including gun reform, environmentalism, and LGBTQ+ rights, among others.
