It’s Digital Inclusion Week!

"The most impactful solutions for bridging the digital divide emerge directly from within our communities."

Digital Inclusion Week, October 6 through 10 this year, is an annual nationwide event hosted by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance dedicated to raising awareness about digital equity and the vital importance of inclusion in our increasingly digital world. Their programming highlights the gaps that exist and celebrates the success in communities for people to access the devices, skills, and connection to the internet they need to thrive.

A local leader in digital equity and inclusion is Pima County’s Office of Digital Inclusion (ODI). Together with Pima County Public Library, ODI aims to break down barriers through innovative programs and services that address the three pillars of digital equity: broadband access, access to devices, and digital skill building.

The library offers computer classes, drop-in tech help and loanable hotspots and Chromebooks. ODI manages the Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Program as well as Digital Navigators who assist folks with their digital needs. ODI runs a ‘learn to earn’ program where people receive a laptop after completing a series of workshops designed to build their digital skills.
