Past Art Exhibit ~ Rudy Flores

Eckstrom-Columbus Library invites you to an exhibit of works by local artist Rudy Flores. The exhibit will be on display until November 30, 2023.

Artist Statement:

Rudy Flores is a Tucson born artist. His latest works put emphasis on the landmarks and citizens of Tucson. The Army Man Project (cultural army of Tucson) is an ongoing project that he and his wife have worked on since 2015. They have 3D scanned and 3D printed nearly 800 locals. Each figure is posed reflecting the career or hobby of the participant. The figures are painted and posed to resemble army man toys. They wanted a way to celebrate and showcase the diversity of Tucson.

Rudy also illustrated a series of book covers inspired by Golden Books. The series "a Little Tucson Book" features Tucson landmarks as well as some relatable memories of his childhood growing up in the Old Pueblo. Rudy also paid tribute to favorite local businesses and landmarks in his 8-Bit Tucson series. The series contains renderings of establishments built in a 3D environment using voxels (cubes).

Rudy is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. He is currently working under contract with the Arizona State Museum doing animation for an exhibit that will open in December 2023.
