Eckstrom-Columbus Library invites you to view an exhibit by local artist Kathleen Gooden, on display until March 31, 2025.
Artist statement:
Kathleen Gooden started creating art later in life. She emerged on her creative journey after retiring from a career as a software developer in 2017. Inspired by a friend's encouragement, she began to explore the artistic side of her brain. Her initial focus was on creating black and white, as well as colored pencil drawings that closely resemble original photographs. Drawing dogs has been her favorite subject because of the intricate details they present. However, she enjoys drawing flowers, plants, people and much more. Her drawing techniques have significantly developed through learning from her children and watching numerous YouTube tutorials. She loves using pastelmat as a surface with colored pencils because it adds beauty, depth, and richness to the artwork.
