(Tucson, AZ) Local author Logan Phillips has kicked off the Summer 2025The Writer in Residence program brings local authors to the Library to consult with writers of any age, experience, or genre. Interested participants can schedule a time to meet with the resident and get advice, feedback, pointers, and tips on writing, publishing, and self-publishing. It is generously funded by the Arizona State Library, Archives, and Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Tell Your Story!
Saturday, July 5 from 10:30 am to noon
Valencia Library, 202 W. Valencia Rd.
Explore telling your truth and getting your story down on paper. You’re already an expert in the life you’ve lived, so come learn easy-to-use techniques to get your words flowing. This workshop is for ages 16 and older. Advance registration is required.
One-on-one consultations
During his residency, Logan will be available for up to two 30-minute one-on-one sessions per week (from 4 to 4:30 pm and 4:30 to 5 pm beginning Tuesday, July 8) at Valencia Library. Reservations can be made one week before each session, one session per person per week.
Valencia Writing Group
This writing group, facilitated by Logan, meets weekly on Tuesdays from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the Valencia Library, July 8 through August 12. Learn more about the group—and register—here.

Learn some easy and fun techniques to write a persona poem in the voice of your favorite fictional or historical character! All ages. This event will be held at the Library's annual MegaMania event.

Youth Writing Jam!

Santa Rosa Library, 1075 S. 10th Ave.
Logan and his 10 year-old co-teachers will offer fun writing games and creative exploration: poetry, stories and more! No experience necessary, all supplies provided. This event is for ages 8 to 13. Registration is required. Please call (520-594-5260) or stop by Santa Rosa Library to register.
About Logan Phillips
Logan Phillips, opens a new window works in poetry and culture. Holding collaboration as a core creative practice, he has contributed to a wide range of performance, music and community-centered education projects in the US, Mexico, Colombia and beyond.
Phillips is a volunteer organizer with Tucson Birthplace Open Space Coalition (TBOSC), an intercultural effort to strengthen Indigenous sovereignty at the base of S-Cuk Ṣon / Sentinel Peak / ‘A’ Mountain. His second full-length book of poetry and creative nonfiction, Reckon, is forthcoming from The University of Arizona Press in 2026.
