Himmel Park Library to close for renovation

(Tucson, AZ) The Himmel Park Library (1035 N. Treat Ave.) will close on Monday, June 30 for a major renovation and expansion. We anticipate the renovation will take about 1.5 to 2 years. Among the exciting changes, the renovated location will include a larger meeting room, an exterior reading porch, and improved daylight with views to the park.

Things to be aware of:

  • The book chute will be closed during the closure. Please return materials to other branches for the duration of the closure. Find a full list of library locations on here. We recommend customers switch their holds pickup location. Learn how to do this here.
  • Any holds on the shelf Friday, June 27 will be moved to Martha Cooper Library (1377 N. Catalina Ave.) for pick up. Any holds still being sent to Himmel Park Library during the closure will be automatically routed to Martha Cooper Library Library for pickup there.

Help prepare for the closure:

Customers can help clear the shelves. It's easy! Head on over during open hours, grab and check out a bunch of materials (maximum check out limit will be overridden) and return them to any other library location.

Donate books to The Friends of the Pima County Public Library:

During the closure, we will not be able to accept donations for the Friends. Please bring them directly to the Friends at 2230 N. Country Club Rd. (1/2 block south of Grant on the east side of Country Club, across from Ace Hardware). They accept donations Monday through Saturday from 9 am to noon.

Prior to the closure, begin thinking about nearby branches to visit:
