Winterhaven Light Festival

The Winterhaven neighborhood has a Festival of Lights every year during the Christmas season.  The neighborhood is decorated with Christmas lights. This tradition began in 1949. C.B. Richards, founder of the Winterhaven Water and Development Company was inspired by Christmas decorations in Beverly Hills, California. Richards donate the first set of light to residents, along with pine trees that were planted throughout the neighborhood.

This tradition has been observed every year but 1970 when a power shortage forced the neighborhood to turn off their lights

This event is voluntary for residents, and the residents do not receive a discount from Tucson Electric Power. To find the dates for this festival go to the Winterhaven web site at:
