Optics Valley

Tucson has been described as the "Optics Valley". The origin of this term is the magazine Business Week, October 19, 1992. This term was used in the magazine's cover story. The University of Arizona’s optical sciences program has contributed to the growth of the city’s nanotechnology and optics sectors, which provide thousands of jobs and bring in hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue.
