Old Spanish Trail – Origin of Name

This road was built in 1949 when Rincon Valley ranchers got tired of being stranded by floods. It is not an old road. It has nothing to do with the Spanish conquistadors. The confusion may have arisen from the nickname given to U.S. 80 highway that was, at one time, known as the Old Spanish Trail.
