Hi Corbett Field—Origin of name

Hi Corbett Field, opens a new window was named after Hiram Steven “Hi” Corbett in 1951. The baseball stadium is located at 700 S. Randolph Way. The venue is managed by the University of Arizona.

“Hi” Corbett was the president of the Tucson Baseball Commission for a quarter century and he was instrumental in getting the Cleveland Indians to Tucson for spring training. Corbett's connection to baseball spurred him to help raise $32,638 toward construction of the field.

Corbett served as a state legislator from 1953 to 1964. Hiram Corbett died in July 1967.
