Boy Scouts—Died in Snowfall in Santa Rita Mountains

Three Boy Scouts, Mike Early, David Greenberg, and Michael La Noue, died in the Santa Rita Mountains during a snowfall on November 15, 1958.

Six boys set out that day to hike Mt. Baldy, now known as Mt. Wrightson. Three of the boys turned back but the other 3 continued and were caught in a freak snowstorm.

The boys' bodies were not found until December 4, 1958. There is a memorial to these boys in the Santa Rita Mountains on the Josephine Saddle Trail.
