AZENET Spring Conference: Strategic Learning, Social Innovation and Evaluation

Thursday, May 16, 2013 8:30am - 4:30pm

The spring conference will be held on May 16 in Tucson, and feature Tanya Beer, Associate Director at Center for Evaluation Innovation. Tanya will build on some of the themes introduced in recent AZENet conferences (2011 and 2012). Social innovation is a solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable, or just than present solutions. It is called upon when a system is not working, when change does not evolve to meet needs, or when established practices impede progress. Social innovation involves risk taking, and the willingness to go forward even though there may be missteps or failures. This creates an even greater need for strategic learning and adaptive intelligence gathering that integrates data and conceptual thinking into implementation. The evaluation process is therefore about exploring, creating, and emerging rather than improving, enhancing, and standardizing. Tanya Beer will explore the process of social innovation and show how to implement it in developmental settings. Please join us for this exciting full-day workshop and lunch.
