Improvements Being Made to Joyner-Green Valley Library Parking Lot Aug 14–Oct 2

(TUCSON, Ariz.) – Beginning Monday, August 14, the Joyner-Green Valley Library parking lot will undergo construction with services provided by Pima County Facilities and Sunland Asphalt.

The work is scheduled to run from August 14 to October 2.

The Library will remain open throughout the process and no Library services will be affected during construction. The majority of the parking lot will be available to customers.

Work includes the demolition of the vacant lot off La Cañada Drive and Desert Bell Drive, which formerly held The Green Valley Lion’s Club recycling area. A new lot, featuring 54 parking spaces, will be built in its place.

In addition, there will be minor reworking of existing parking spaces immediately east of the Library to make room for additional ADA-compliant spaces. The eight parking spaces along the east side of the building will be closed off and barricaded while the work is completed. These eight spaces are the only ones that will be unavailable during construction.

There will be some parking lot congestion while the work is underway. Library customers are asked to follow signage and exercise caution and patience when visiting. Visitors are asked to refrain from removing, bypassing, or relocating any construction fencing or barriers.

A portion of the roadway running along the east perimeter of the existing parking lot will be closed off and used as a staging area during construction. Access to neighboring buildings, including the Motor Vehicle Division, the White Elephant Thrift Store, Green Valley Justice Court, and the Sheriff’s Department and auxiliary volunteers will remain open off of La Cañada and through the main Library parking lot.
