Joyner-Green Valley Library to close for two weeks beginning June 3, 2018

(TUCSON, Ariz.) – The Joyner-Green Valley Library will be closed temporarily from Sunday, June 3–Sunday, June 17 while all shelves throughout the nearly 14,000 square foot building are replaced.

The project is estimated to cost $200,000 and will be overseen by Pima County Facilities Management.

The shelves will be replaced with new and upgraded units that will hold more than 53,000 circulating Library materials. In addition, the project will include creating a better use of space throughout the building. The quiet area will be shifted to a more ideal location, and the entire public floorplan will be reorganized to better serve its customers.

Library staff asks customers to note the following during the closure:

  • The after-hours book return chute will be closed. Please return your materials to a nearby location.
  • All customer holds on the shelf at the time of closure will be held an extra week after the Library reopens on Monday, June 18. Customers may request materials be delivered to any other location.
  • Any items that have a due date falling within the two week closure will have until Wednesday, June 20 to return materials.
  • Youth programs scheduled during the closure will be offered later in the summer.

Kathy Konecny, Joyner-Green Valley Library Manager, says, “We appreciate our customers’ patience while we make these changes. This Library serves about 300,000 people every year and we’re always looking for ways to create a space that best serves their needs.”

The Joyner-Green Valley Library, which has been part of the Pima County Public Library system since 1974, is located at 601 N. La Cañada Drive. Nearby Libraries include:
