Rhyme Time: Round and Round the Garden

Boy having fun at StorytimeAt our baby story times, we provide a language rich environment that includes reading, singing, and reciting rhymes. Hearing the rich rhythm and cadence of nursery rhymes helps infants build a strong foundation for learning speech and reading.

The following rhyme includes the element of touching, as well as hearing, providing a multi-sensory experience for baby and caregiver.

Repeat this rhyme several times during the day and your baby will begin to anticipate the tickle at the end.

Round and round the garden, went the teddy bear (adult's pointer finger circles baby's tummy)

One step, two steps, tickle under there (walk fingers up to chin and tickle underneath)

Round and round the haystack, went the little mouse (adult's pointer finger circles baby's tummy)

One step, two steps, tickle under there (walk fingers up to chin and tickle underneath)
