Let's all have some mint tea to celebrate: local children’s author Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford just told us that her book My Tata's Remedies = Los Remedios De Mi Tata has been selected by the Arizona State Library's Arizona Center for the Book as their next Great Read for Arizona, representing our state at the National Book Festival this September!
Los Remedios was illustrated by Antonio Castro and published by Cinco Puntos Press. Other awards include selection as one of our Southwest Books of the Year for 2015, and honor for its illustrations with a prestigious Pura Belpré Award by the American Library Association.
Roni is a longtime friend of Pima County Public Library, and most recently she presented eleven author talks at libraries, schools and community centers across Pima County as part of PCPL’s Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros 2016 celebration. She is also a popular speaker at the Library's Nuestras Raíces tent at the Tucson Festival of Books. Rivera-Ashford's other children's books include My Nana's Remedies and Hip, hip, hooray, it's monsoon day!.
