FREE Books for TEEN Readers!

teen-top-ten-yalsa logoAt the Dusenberry-River Library we have a Teen Advisory Board who loves to read. Over the past couple of years they have been writing reviews for our Picks by Teens section. The group decided to step up their game this year, and applied to be a galley group for Young Adult Library Services Association’s (YALSA) Teen Top Ten Award. A galley is a book that hasn’t been released to the public yet, so a galley group gets to see it first. To our great delight, they were chosen to be one of twenty groups out of the entire country to choose the finalists for the years 2017-2018. This is an amazing opportunity and honor for teens who love books!

As their advisor I am tasked with the job of making sure that approximately 400 books get read and reviewed each year, and I need your help! I am looking to add some members to this vibrant, diverse, and valuable team.  So if you want to get FREE books and share your favorite books with the entire nation, join our group by contacting me at Jusdina.Nolin@pima.gov.

Here's what the teens think about this group…

“Going to the Dusenberry-River TAB group meetings is honestly one of the highlights of my week.  The members are unfailingly kind, hilarious, and understanding, and our supervisor is amazingly flexible and passionate.  We all bond over our mutual love of books, and I always leave the meetings feeling a little bit happier than I was before.” – Keiko

“Joining the Dusenberry-River TAB group has been one of the coolest things I've done this year. I love the friends I've made and we have so much fun at every meeting! Everyone is so open-minded and kind, and we have the greatest time bonding over books.” – Nika

“As a new member to the Dusenberry-River TAB group, I immediately felt welcomed and I feel that we grow stronger as a group each time we meet. I love being able to see people's faces light up after coming to one of our events, the meetings are fun and our awesome supervisor always finds a unique way for us to bond as a group.” – Brooke
