December at Your Library: Holidays and More!

Holiday Happenings

As we do every year, we're going all out and having holiday events all month. Maybe you want to build a gingerbread house with your kids, or bring them to a holiday Storytime, or maybe a musical or puppet performance. You might be into crafts, making your own holiday gifts, or trying a holiday-themed escape room. No matter who you are, you're bound to find something to give you some holiday cheer this month. Browse the calendar of events here.

It wouldn't be the holidays without food! You'll find the perfect recipe for your holiday gathering at the library. Here are some cookbook lists to get you started.

If you're like me, you start out the year with good intentions, and think you'll make everyone on your list a homemade craft project. Which means you need ideas, and we have an extensive collection of craft books! Here are just a few crafty lists to get your creative juices flowing.

Holiday closures: All libraries close at 5:00 pm on December 24, Christmas Eve, and are closed all day on December 25 for Christmas. Happy Holidays!

Circle of Book Clubs Author Salon

The next Author Salon in the Circle of Book Clubs schedule is a visit with Terrence Moore, author of 66 on 66: A Photographer's Journey. These events are hosted by the Pima Library Foundation, which is the private philanthropic partner of the Library.

Moore grew up near Route 66 in Claremont, California and has been photographing the iconic highway celebrated in story, song and films for nearly 50 years. Known as "The Mother Road," this highway became the vital path for travelers, tourists, and fortune-seekers. This volume highlights 66 of Moores finest 35mm color film images a stunning chronicle of this storied road in states from Missouri to California.

Now Sowing

Now that the weather is cool, spend some time in your garden! Our Seed Library makes it easy to know what to plant no matter what time of year it is.

In December, you can plant parsley, cabbage, beets, chard, and herbs. Any (or all!) of these would be great in a winter feast.

Get info about what's sowing now from our expert Seed Librarians.
