Kirk-Bear Canyon Library invites you to view an exhibit by local artist Adriana Walker, on display October 1-31, 2024.
Artist Statement:
Adriana Walker was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved to Southern California at an early age. Raised in a family that encouraged her to value the arts, she soon developed interests in batik, silver soldering and watercolor painting.
Once having completed her degree in Wild Animal Training and Management at Moorpark College, she moved to Northern California where she became an accomplished watercolor artist and Dressage Instructor. There, Adriana immersed herself in the study of fused glass and shortly after was asked to join the staff at Lassen Community College where she taught fused glass, watercolor painting and equestrian classes for many years. Her experiences integrated well with her new interest in combining semi-precious gems, pearls and vintage finds with fused glass and silverwork to create unique jewelry.
In addition, Adriana specializes in unique paintings with a focus on acrylic and mixed media abstracts. Both her jewelry and paintings exhibit a unique combination of texture, color and composition inspired by the intricacies of nature and cultural themes.
She describes herself as an experimenter who is fascinated by the endless possibilities of combining organic, sinuous shapes with patterns which results in taking her work in unusual and unpredictable directions. Adriana's artwork can be found in galleries and private collections throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico and Argentina.
