Digital Downloads - How to Use MyLibrary DV
On this page:
Getting Started: Download the Software
MyLibrary DV requires that you install special playback software before you can download and view their digital video. You only need to do this one time. To download the software, go to the MyLibrary DV homepage and click the "Download" button. Follow the on-screen instructions for downloading and installing the software.
System Requirements
In order to run the MyLibrary DV program, your computer must meet the following system requirements:
- Updated version of Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) OR
Updated version of Windows 2000 (with Service Pack 4) - At least 1 GB of free disk space
- Windows Media Player 9 or above with the most recent DRM security update
Searching for Digital Videos
Double-click the MyLibrary DV icon on your desktop to open the MyLibrary DV viewer. The Channel Guide lists the types of videos available. Click on the type of video you want from the list on the left. This will bring up a list of program titles or topics. Click on one of these to see what specific videos are available.
The individual videos appear on the right. Usually, there will be one video highlighted, with five additional titles listed across the bottom of the screen. Click the "Show All" button in the bottom right corner to see additional videos. Click on any video to see a description of its contents.
Downloading Videos
Click the "Download" button in the description to check out and download the file. You must be logged in before the download starts. You can log in by clicking the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the screen. If you are not logged in when you click the download button, a window will appear asking for your name and library card number. Enter this information and click "Submit," then click the"download" button again.
MyLibrary DV uses a "streaming media" download, so you don't have to wait for the entire file to load onto your computer before you can start watching it. Once the beginning of the video is downloaded, you will see a "Play" button where the "download" button used to be. Click Play to start watching the video. In most cases, you will be able to view your videos as often as you wish during the 7-day checkout period.
Note: For our Hollywood Hits and Hollywood Favorites collections, once you start playing the video, you will only be able to access it for 24 hours. You may watch it as often as you like within that time, but the checkout will expire 24 hours after you play the movie for the first time.
Playing Digital Videos on Your Computer
You can watch the videos on your computer, using the MyLibrary DV viewer. Click the "My Downloads" link on the left to bring up a list of the videos you have checked out. Click the Play button next to a title to watch that video.
