Meeting Rooms

- Our meeting room has the following amenities: chairs, tables, lectern, TV with VCR, chalkboard, and a projection screen. The room's capacity is 121 people.
Computers
You may use our computers one session per day. We have 16 computers with internet access available. We offer:
- 14 reservable computers with 45 min. sessions
- 2 non-reservable comptuers with 15 min. sessions (Express PCs)
We also have wireless internet access available. Bring your laptop and use the library's WiFi network for free. For more information, please see our WiFi FAQ.
Who is Dan Eckstrom?
Dan Eckstrom is a native of South Tucson, Arizona, whose career in public service began in 1971 with his election to the South Tucson City Council at the age of 23. In 1973 he was re-elected and chosen as Mayor - a post he retained for the next 15 years.
He was appointed to the Pima County Board of Supervisors in May 1988, and was re-elected to the Board four times, until his retirement in September 2003.
Mr. Eckstrom's 32 years of service have been characterized by his commitment to improving the community through economic development, public service enhancements and strong advocacy of libraries. His list of achievements is extensive: State of Arizona Minority Business Advocate of the Year, Who's Who Among Hispanic Americans, service on federal commissions, recipient of the University of Arizona Alumni Association's Distinguished Citizens Award, and his induction into the Arizona Democratic Party Hall of Fame.
Even in retirement, he continues his service by working with community and faith-based initiatives and organizations.

Acrylic on panels, affixed to the wall, 5ft. high by 59 ft. long This picture is only a small sample of the mural.
This mural was chosen through a Tucson Commission of the Arts and Culture competition.
While contemplating the awkward proportions of the wall, Waid was inspired by the Santa Cruz River. He designed an abstract landscape to fit the space-an uninterrupted river with its changing vegetation and changing weather, "an actual, apprehensible Southwestern space that has weight but is constantly changing and renewing itself."
The design and subject also have meaning specific to the site. According to Waid: "The mural should transport and enlarge the viewer's vision through the opening of perceptual doors. The idea of opening doors is important in the sense that this is the precise purpose of a library."
