Giant Reed
This is an invasive plant species found in the Southwest. This plant originally came to the U.S. from India in the 1820s. The Giant Reed is a 20-foot perennial that clogs up stream beds. Giant Reed has become a problem in Sabino Canyon; it blocks the stream and crowds out native species.
