Nonprofit Giving to Individuals

The IRS has special requirements for 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations giving grants or scholarships to individuals. The type of nonprofit (private foundation, public charity, etc.) may also be relevant to what you can and cannot legally do. 
 
The Pima County Public Library staff does not have the expertise to give you legal advice, but we can direct you to resources which might be helpful.

  • If you would like legal advice, your organization may qualify for free legal assistance from the Southern Arizona Legal Aid. For more information, please call (520) 623-9465. 
  • The Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education at http://www.azflse.org/ or by phone (602) 340-7366 may be able to assist you.
