Guapo Way—Origin of name
Guapo Way was named after Jose Rincon Jr., 14, killed by a drunk driver in January 2008. Jose Rincon Jr. was riding a bicycle on East Broadway when he was killed by a drunk driver. Guapo was Jose Rincon Jr.’s nickname. Guapo means handsome in Spanish.
This street is located between El Con Mall and Fifth Street. It was originally named Jones Boulevard. The reason this street was rename after Rincon, is because he learned to ride a bicycle in this area.
