Nacirema
This is American spelled backward. There is an article titled "Body Ritual Among the Nacirema" by Horace Miner. This article was published in the American Anthropologist 58:3, June 1956. This article is used by teachers as an assignment in various classes: sociology, anthropology, etc. It is usually used from the 6th grade up. Students are given this article and asked to write what they think about the "Nacirema" culture. Then later the teacher will tell the students that the article is written about Americans.
