Three Boy Scouts died in the Santa Rita Mountains during a snowfall on November 16, 1958.  The names of the boys were:  Mike Early, David Greenberg and Michael La Noue.  Their bodies were not found until December 4, 1958. There is a memorial to these boys in the Santa Rita Mountains on the Josephine Saddle Trail.
