Green Shamrock in intersection

There is a green shamrock painted into the intersection of South Stone Avenue and West Pennington Street. The shamrock is given a fresh coat of green paint every year for St. Patrick’s Day.
This shamrock was originally painted in 1970, the McArdle family painted the shamrock so that their mother would see it as she drove to work at the Mountain Bell Telephone Co.
“Family traditions includes parade, Irish meal and lots of green paint.” Arizona Daily Star. March 14, 2010. Page B6.
