Bonillas School--Name Origin
A student of Tucson's first public school teacher John Spring, Ygnacio Bonillas was so poor that he often missed school to work. When Arizona Governor Safford was visiting a Tucson School he found out why Bonillas was absent. So the governor offered to pay for Bonilla's school books and supplies, provided Bonillas helped the governor with chores such as feeding his mules.
Bonillas grew up to become a teacher in Tucson. The location of the school is 4757 E. Winsett. Its telephone number is 520-232-6600.
