Tips on sharing books with your toddler

  • Look for books with clear and simple pictures, and repetitive or rhyming text.
  • Talk about the pictures in the book. There's no rule that says you have to read exactly what's on every page.
  • Ask your child to make noises or sound effects to go along with the story.
  • Ask questions about the story.
  • Ask your child to tell you the story by "reading" the pictures.
  • Share books with your child every day. Even just a few minutes a day is important.
