Easy Steps for Sharing Books With Your Baby

  • Choose a time when both you and your baby are in a good mood.
  • Show Baby the book. Point to pictures and talk about them. There's no rule that says you have to read every word on the page.
  • Talk and have fun. Pick a cozy spot. Remember to touch and love your baby the whole time.
  • Watch what Baby does. Let your baby play with the book if she wants to, and stop book-sharing time if she gets tired or upset.
  • Share a book every day. Even just a few minutes a day is important.
