Have Your Home Computer Remember Your Library Card Number and PIN

Internet Explorer

The way to get your computer to remember your card number is to reset your AutoComplete in Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer 9

Microsoft provides instructions to turn on AutoComplete for Internet Explorer 9 here.

Internet Explorer 8

Please follow these steps:

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Go to Tools
  • Select Internet Options
  • Click the Content tab
  • Click the Settings button next to "AutoComplete"
  • Click to check mark the box next to "User names and passwords on forms."
  • Click Ok, then Click Ok again

If these steps don't work, you may have to reset your settings in Internet Explorer 8. WARNING: Doing this will lose all of your browser settings. You will have to recreate them.

Internet Explorer 7

Please follow these steps:

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Go to Tools
  • Select Internet Options
  • Click the General tab
  • Click Delete under "Browsing History"
  • Click Delete in the "Form Data" section
  • Click Delete in the "Passwords" section
  • Click the Content tab Go to Settings under "Autocomplete"
  • Mark all boxes with check marks
  • Click Ok, then Click Ok again

Return to the library's web site, login to My Account, and click "Yes" when asked if you want to save this password.

Internet Explorer 6

Please follow these steps:

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Go to Tools > Internet Options
  • Click on Content (tab)
  • Click the AutoComplete button
  • Check all four boxes as shown in the image to the right.
  • Click on the button to "Clear Forms" then OK in the box that pops up
  • Click on the button to "Clear Passwords" then OK in the box that pops up
  • Click OK twice to close Internet Options

Return to the library's web site, login to My Account, and click "Yes" when asked if you want to save this password.

Safari

  • Open Safari
  • Go to Edit > Preferences
  • Click the "AutoFill" icon
  • Click the "Edit" button next to "User names and passwords"
  • Find the entry "http://librarycatalog.pima.gov" in the "Website" column with the card number in the "User Name" column
  • Click on this entry
  • Click the "Remove" button
  • Go back to the library's homepage
  • Click on My Account

As you enter a user name and password, Safari asks if you to want to save the information. Click Yes to save the name and password. Click Not Now if you may want to save the information in the future. Click Never for this Website if you don't want to be asked to save the name and password for the website again.

Firefox

  • Open Firefox
  • Go to Tools > Options, then click on the Security Tab
  • Make sure "Remember passwords for sites" is checked
  • Click the "Saved Passwords" button
  • Scroll down the list to find the library's catalog URL - https://librarycatalog.pima.gov
  • Verify the number in the "Username" column to make sure it is your current library card number. If it is not, click to highlight it, then click on the "Remove" button.
  • Click "Close"
  • Click "OK" on the Options box
  • Go to the Library's homepage and click on My Account
  • Login with your Library card number and PIN
  • Click the "Remember" button at the top of the screen where it says, "Do you want Firefox to remember this password?"

Google Chrome

Autocomplete is turned on automatically in Google Chrome. It will save library card numbers in a list. However, your PIN must be typed in at each login. Google Chrome will not save your PIN or offer to save your PIN.

Deleting an old library card number from autocomplete

If you want to remove a previous library card number from your browser's autocomplete list:

  • Go to the library's My Account page
  • Click on the Your Library card number box and press the down arrow key to display all the saved entries. You may type the first few letters of the entry to limit the number of entries displayed.
  • Use the down arrow key or the mouse pointer to highlight/select the entry you wish to delete.
  • Press Delete. The entry will be removed.

You may repeat the process for any number of entries for a particular form field.
