LEARN Literacy Education And Resource Network Program
The goal of the LEARN program is to provide adults (18 years or older) in the community with the skills and attitudes necessary to complete a successful term of probation (for probationers), become functional members of society, and/or pursue future educational opportunities. LEARN is a service of Pima County Adult Probation, but serves any adults in Pima County. Each LEARN lab offers computer assisted instruction in:
  • Literacy
  • Adult Basic Education
  • GED preparation courses
Literacy Volunteers of Tucson (LVT)
The Literacy Volunteers of Tucson partner with the Library to offer adults (16 & older) in our community access to language learning in our branch libraries. If you or someone you know would like a tutor to help you learn to read, write or speak English, please contact LVT at 882-8006. Or, ask about a conversation group meeting at your local library. If you would like to be a tutor, please contact LVT.
Pima Community College Adult Basic Education
Pima College Adult Education program (PCAE) offers classes in Adult Basic Education (ABE - basic reading, writing and math), GED high-school equivalency preparation, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and Citizenship preparation.
PCAE offers a program that allows adults to study for their GED online. Adults. study at your own pace under the guidance of a professional GED teacher. They have two types of online classes:
  • Attend class once a week; work online 3-6 hours/week. Call 881-5520 for more information.
  • No class to attend; work online 6-9 hours/week. Call 294-6705 for more information.
