For information about the Medicare workshop (view November schedule), please call 546-2011.
Also, take advantage of the ALTCS Workshop to find out what you need to know about government help for long-term care. This is offered the third Friday of every month, 2-4 pm at PCOA. These workshops are free, donations accepted. To register for these workshops or find out about other workshops, call 790-0504.
About the Ambassador Program: The Pima Council on Aging's Ambassador program is an education, information, referral, and advocacy program for seniors and those who assist them. The Ambassador Program provides a unique opportunity to help seniors and their caregivers.
After initial training (approximately 8 hours over two days) and attendance at a 1-hour monthly meeting, an Ambassador's work takes place on their own schedule. Currently, there are 100 Ambassadors serving in 210 locations, including residential communities, faith communities, civic organizations/agencies and libraries throughout Pima County.
Ambassadors serve groups as diverse as the Pan Asian Community Alliance, the Tucson High Alumni Association, mobile home parks, apartments, Kiwanis Clubs, and La Nanas (as association of Hispanic grandmothers). Names are being accepted now for the next training session.
If you would like more information about this unique volunteer opportunity, contact Joan Nevin, Ambassador Outreach Coordinator, at 790-0504.
