We are designating a Quiet Zone for those customers who would like an area where they can have a peaceful place for study, contemplation, reflection, productive thinking or to just read, with minimal disturbances.

Every Child Ready to Read

Parents, this workshop is for you and your child age birth to five years of age. Come play with your child and learn the importance of exposing young children to language, reading and books. Call 594-5390 to register.

Quilt It! : A beginning quilt workshop for boys and girls

Once a utilitarian skill, modern quilting now combines utility with art. The Quilt It! workshop project is a simple, but effective way for boys and girls to learn basic quilting skills. Elementary skills are taught, so that all work can be completed by hand sewing and quilting.

Participants will create their own quilted 12 inch square pillow by attending 4 easy Saturday sessions with volunteer instructors from the Tucson Quilters Guild Education Committee.

Registration limited to participants between 8 and 18 years old. Registration required. Please register online or call 594-5315.

Reading Partners

Reading Partners brings adult volunteers and children together to share their love of reading. Our trained Reading Partners take joy in reading stories one-on-one to your child during your visit to the library. They also welcome your child reading to them.

Middle School Mayhem

New and just for middle schoolers! Our new program will get you learning awesome things while having tons of fun. Every program features several activities around a special theme each month. For more info, call 594-5420.
Activities are designed for the 10-13 age group.

Science Saturday: Animals

Learn about the characteristics that define six different animal groups and make them unique. See artifacts from Insects/Spiders, Fish, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds, & Mammals. Meet a live member of these groups: Insect/Spider, Amphibian, Reptile, & Mammal.

Kids aged 4-12 years old most welcome. Seating is limited so come early. Get your free ticket at the service desk 30 minutes prior to program start.

Read to a Dog

Children are invited to read to a Certified Therapy Dog. One of the favorite things for the dog to do is listen to children read lots of stories. Reading to a dog or other pet can help new and reluctant readers gain confidence, increase important reading skills, and develop a love of reading.
