Now Showing at Your Library! in December Beauty is Embarrassing
Artist Wayne White found early success as one of the creators of Pee-wee's Playhouse and now his "word" paintings, which feature pithy and often sarcastic text statements crafted onto vintage landscape paintings, have made him a darling of the fine art world. This is a funny, irreverent story of the highs and lows of a commercial artist struggling to find peace and balance between his work and art.
This event is shown in partnership with Independent Television Service Community Cinema, PBS Independent Lens, Arizona Public Media, and Pima County Public Library's Now Showing at Your Library documentary film series.
