The purpose of the Job Club is to provide information, networking opportunities, and support to job seekers. We discuss career exploration, resumes, online applications, interviewing, and other issues related to the job search.

Free GED Preparation and Tutoring

At this drop-in session, get help from our tutors to get started preparing for the GED at your own pace. All classes are taught by Pima County Public Library tutors with Adult Education Certification, and will be taught in English. Students ages 16 and older can attend classes.

Please note that children cannot attend these classes. Parents must make their own child care arrangements for children under age 8.

NaNoWriMo Write In!

Welcome to National Novel Writing Month at your library! Wheeler Taft Abbett, Sr. Library will be hosting Friday write ins in the children's meeting room. Our computers are available to writers, and we will have a "Novelist at Work" table in the reading area all month. Bring your laptop or a pen and paper, and your resolve!

Abbett Book Sale

The Friends of the Pima County Public Library's book sale at the Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library, offering a wide selection of titles. Browse popular nonfiction subjects, interesting children's materials, CDs, DVDs, and other items at bargain prices.

Video Production

CreateIT - Think IT. Make IT. Do IT. New technology and media classes for teens. Want to make the next big viral video or learn how to make a short film? Then join the CreateIT class this fall at Wheeler Taft Abbett, Sr. library to check out a variety of ways video is used to inform, entertain and persuade the public. You will have the opportunity to shoot and edit your own short videos and films with the help of career professionals! This free class runs for four weeks and starts Saturday, October 27, from 10am-12pm. If you can't make the first one, jump in anytime. Call 594-5200 for more information.

Family Storytime

Family Storytime is for all ages. It is an opportunity for parents to introduce their children to reading and language in a fun way.

Science Saturdays!

Join us the first Saturday of each month for a free science program! This is a fun, interactive science-oriented program for all ages. With a different topic every month, you’re sure to find something you’ll love.

Presented by Colossal Cave Mountain Park.
This fun (and edible) program uses Big Hunk candy bars to teach about geology and the physical forces affecting it. Totally edible, and really messy, but lots of fun!

Family Holiday Crafts

Explore creative story telling by making your own handmade cards or artist books. These hand made books will include accordion, popup and simple book forms using drawing, painting and collage.
This is a six-week workshop presented by the Drawing Studio.

For ages 9-12 with an adult. Free! All supplies are included.

Meet the Computer

Never tried a computer before? In this course you will get to meet the computer, the keyboard and the mouse, and you will learn what they are and how to use them. No experience is necessary for you to take this relaxed, fun class.
Note: If you have never used a computer before, this is an excellent class to take before Introduction to Computers.

Our Job Help Hub Instructor is available to answer questions you might have on a wide variety of job search topics. Topics include resume writing, online job searching, e-mail accounts, completing online job applications, interviewing, and basic computer skills.

An individual can sign up for a ½-hour one-on-one session during drop-in job help; stop in or call the library at 594-5200.
