Free GED Preparation and Tutoring

At this drop-in session, get help from our tutors to get started preparing for the GED at your own pace. All classes are taught by Pima County Public Library tutors with Adult Education Certification, and will be taught in English. Students ages 16 and older can attend classes.

Please note that children cannot attend these classes. Parents must make their own child care arrangements for children under age 8.

Basic Email

Set up a free electronic webmail account and type and send email. Mouse and keyboard skills or completion of the Get Started with the Computer class required.

Babytime

Designed for babies up to 18 months of age. At Storytime, children have an opportunity to do activities that promote development and learning.

"One-on-One" Computer Tutoring

Come to Wheeler Taft Abbett Library for free weekly half-hour individualized basic computer tutoring in the following: using the mouse;basic internet use; basic Microsoft Word use; web-based email; navigating the library catalog.

Homework Help

Free tutoring is available on site for all ages. Subjects include math, science, social studies and writing. Help available in Spanish, subject to availability.

Read To a Dog!

Come and read for fun to a licensed therapy dog.

The dog creates a very low stress environment for children who are learning or having difficulties learning to read. As the child reads aloud, the dog listens and enjoys the story and never corrects the child.

The dog just loves what the child is doing! A loving, low-stress time for children to read is often extremely helpful in learning to read.

All Things Horses - Colic: Cause, Prevention & Treatment

Dr Shamis DVM co-operates the Cortaro Equine Hospital. He studied for 4 years of post graduate residency in equine surgery.

Treating horses for reasons ranging from strained tendons to castrations to colic. Colic brings 40% of the hospital referrals.

Colic is defined as generalized acute abdominal pain and is the most frequent emergency encountered in equine practice.

A series of talks on various aspects of horse care.

Toddler Storytime

Designed for children 18- to 36-months-old. Parents/caregivers and children interact through stories, songs, and rhymes. Stories are kept short to fit the toddlers' short attention spans. Each Toddler storytime is 20 to 30 minutes long.

Pima County Property Tax Freezes, Exemptions and Deferrals

Representatives from the Pima County Assessor's Office will conduct interviews for qualified widows, widowers and disabled persons. There are certain qualifications that have to be met. Please contact the Assessor's Office at 724-7500 for more information and the documents you will need to bring.
