Never tried a computer before? In this course you will get to meet the computer, the keyboard and the mouse, and you will learn what they are and how to use them. No experience is necessary for you to take this relaxed, fun class.
Note: If you have never used a computer before, this is an excellent class to take before Introduction to Computers.

Wii Gaming

Get a head start on the weekend! Join friends to play Wii Sports, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Guitar Hero, and other fun games on our big-screen projector. All ages welcome!

Altered Books Workshop

Adults can learn techniques to turn old books into works of art. Bring found objects, and an exacto or utility knife with sharp blades. Call 594-5225 to register.

Toddler Storytime

Designed for children 18- to 36-months-old. Parents/caregivers and children interact through stories, songs, and rhymes. Stories are kept short to fit the toddlers' short attention spans. Each Toddler Storytime is 20 to 30 minutes long. Storytime begins 1/2 hour before the library opens. This allows us to enjoy our time with the children. Staff will open the door.

Chess Club

Interested in Chess? Please join us if you are a grand master or just want to have fun. All skill levels welcome. Bring your friends and make new ones. Practice your strategy and tactics.

Reading Partners

Reading Partners brings adult volunteers and children together to share their love of reading. Our trained Reading Partner Jan takes joy in reading stories one-on-one to your child during your visit to the library. They also welcome your child reading to them.

Teen Advocate Training

If you are 16 to 18 years old and would like to earn $100, this training is for you!

Teens, learn about library resources and agree to make five presentations to your peers at school, church, youth group, etc., before the end of April 2013 and earn $100. It's a great way to increase your public speaking skills and gain valuable job experience too!

Homework Help

Free tutoring is available on site for all ages. Subjects include math, science, social studies and writing.

Language Exchange

Join in at Flowing Wells Branch Library for a friendly hour of practicing English and Spanish. Beginner- to intermediate-level English learners are provided the opportunity to practice English, and Spanish learners have the opportunity to practice Spanish. No registration required.

Introduction to Computers

In this fun, hands-on course you will learn all the basic computer skills including using the mouse and keyboard, working in Microsoft Windows, using Microsoft Word, surfing the Internet and using Email.

This course is ideal for someone who has a little experience with the computer but wants to know more.

Note: If you have never touched a computer or keyboard before, you may benefit from attending our Meet the Computer course prior to Introduction to Computers.

Beginning Drawing with the Drawing Studio

Live Outside the Lines
This 6-week course introduces the basic language of drawing and how it is used to communicate what and how we observe. You will discover not only that you can draw , but you will acquire the core of what it is to draw, which is how to observe.

This program is part of our Fit for Life 50+ series and is presented courtesy of the Friends of the Pima County Library. All supplies are provided at no cost to participants.

Getting the Most Out of the Internet

Want to use the Internet more safely and effectively? In this course, you will learn a variety of skills such as how to navigate through shopping sites and know what to look for to ensure your privacy and security. You will also learn about online communities, message boards and chat rooms, as well as advanced email techniques like creating your own stationery and sending photographs and documents to friends and relatives.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel

This course teaches Microsoft Excel basics. Excel is a spreadsheet program that helps you manage mathematical information. It is frequently used in today’s workplace. Once you begin to understand the basics, you will find it is an easy and fun application to use.

For example, you can use Excel to budget your personal finances and keep track of your investments. You can also use Excel to follow loan repayments, compare different mortgages, create invoices and more.

Prior experience with the computer and an understanding of the Windows operating system is recommended.
