Jasmine Smith Artist Reception

Artist Statement:
I have always found inspiration and motivation in books, but that message is gathered over hundreds of pages and hours of time. As an artist, I began to consider whether a book could motivate a reader in just one glance, communicate a theme in just seconds. And so I started carving words into books, matching my words to the meaning of the original text. I try to marry together my message and the book's original purpose or intention to create pieces that are both inspirational and beautiful.

This exhibit is on display in the glass cases and windowed room, July 1-31 2014. Please join us for an artist reception on July 5.
