Is Your IP Safe?

Friday, September 12, 2014 7:30am - 9:00am

Tips from an Intellectual Property expert on protecting IP in the age of social media
So you're shifting more of your fundraising efforts to social media...but do you have the safeguards in place to be sure your "creations of the mind"- client information, donor information, branding efforts, taglines, video, logos- aren't borrowed, shared and used in ways you never intended? And what about data belonging to you or your client? What are you doing to make sure it stays safe when you or your employees start tweeting, linking, posting, streaming? Attorney Peter Goldman of DeConcini McDonald Yetwin & Lacy, P.C. will offer pointers on protecting your and your client's IP in any arena.

Peter Goldman, Esq., an intellectual property attorney at DeConcini McDonald Yetwin & Lacy, P.C. and will speak to the chapter on protecting emails, face book, internet paper trails. He also discusses the dangers of e-trails, etc. His presentation will be very pertinent, as we all deal with confidential donor/legal/personal information every day and often via email. Peter practices "Intellectual Property Law" and works in concert with his clients to create value. Although he is a registered patent attorney, he does more than write patents. He works with clients to advise them on how best to match their long-term goals with the realities of the marketplace. Peter's goal for his clients is to keep them in the marketplace and out of the courts.
