Southside Chess Championship

All levels of players welcome to participate in this free chess tournament sponsored by the library and 9 Queens chess organization.

Tournament check-in is at 10 am. Prizes will be awarded at 4 pm.

Computer Class-Digital Photography

This course will introduce you to the vocabulary, concepts, and equipment you need to be a digital photographer. Prerequisite: Mouse and keyboard skills, or completion of Computer Basics class.

Quiet Zone / La Zona Silencio

We are designating a Quiet Zone for those customers who would like an area where they can have a peaceful place for study, contemplation, reflection, productive thinking or to just read, with minimal disturbances.

Meet a determined group of theoretical scientists and fine artists who have abandoned careers and scoffed at graduate degrees to forge new lives as modern-day paper folders. Together they reinterpret the world in paper, creating a wild mix of sensibilities towards art, science, creativity and meaning.

This one hour free screening will be followed by a folding demonstration presented by M Craig of the Tucson Origami Club. Door prizes will be given to the first 10 people attending the screening. Stay and Play / Grupo de Juego

A play-based parenting group that gives parents the opportunity to learn through interaction how to promote positive cognitive and emotional development. Bilingual. Children ages 0-5 years.

Work with Publisher's layout guides and create fliers and greeting cards. Mouse (pointing, clicking, and dragging) and keyboard experience or completion of the Computer Basics class required.

Now is the time to realize your dream of becoming a United States citizen. Come to this free Citizenship Class offered by Pima Community College Adult Education. This class provides opportunities to learn about U.S. government and U.S. history and to improve your English language skills, while preparing for the Citizenship Exam. Free GED Classes - Preparation and Tutoring

All classes are taught by Pima County Public Library tutors with their Adult Education Certifications, and will be taught in English. Students ages 16 and older can attend classes, which are held three days a week. Please note that children cannot attend these classes. Parents must make their own child care arrangements for children under age 8. Call 594-5390 to register.

Family Storytime

Family Storytime is for all ages. It is an opportunity for parents to introduce their children to reading and language in a fun way.

Preschool Storytime

Designed for 3- to 5-year-olds and their parents or caregivers. Stories are longer than the Toddler Storytime and the activities are more complex. Children must be able to sit still for a longer period of time than during Toddler Storytime. Preschool Storytime is 30 to 45 minutes long.

Babytime

Designed for babies up to 18 months of age. At Storytime, children have an opportunity to do activities that promote development and learning.

Create Club

Do you like crafts, games and other fun activities? Do you have a creative itch you just can't scratch? Maybe you're just bored on early-out Wednesdays. If you're 7 to 13, join us for Create Club and release your wild imagination. All materials supplied.
