An Unexpected Party: A Hobbit Movie Release Party
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit, and that hobbit loved going to the library! Join us for Lord of the Rings-themed parties to celebrate the release of the first installment of "The Hobbit." Journey around Pima County to different library branches, representing a variety of Middle Earth locations.
Slip on some Hobbit feet, write your name in Elvish, try your hand at games, compete in riddle and trivia contests, and more merriment.
All ages are welcome, although many activities will require the Elven dexterity possessed only by teens and adults. Costumes are welcome and encouraged.

Chess Tournament
The 9 Queens chess tournament is a chess tourney designed to introduce chess players to tournament play. Participantss, paired by tournament director using the Swiss pairing system, play three games. At the end of the day there is an award ceremony with trophies for individuals and teams.

Drop-in on a ReadStrong session to level up your reading skills. Students in grades 4-12 and adults are welcome to attend these free sessions where the focus is on improving reading skills and reading for fun. New technology and media classes for teens.
Logo Design Workshop: An Intense Two-Day Graphic Design Experience.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to design a logo, then see it used in all sorts of printed and digital media? Now’s your chance.
A program of the Pima County Public Library needs a professional quality logo, and they want it designed by youth. During this two-day workshop, you’ll be coached by a professional graphic designer to use proven creative strategies and professional software tools, to create designs that meet the clients’ needs, and exceed their expectations. You’ll do all the work, from interviewing the client, to developing, critiquing, refining,and finally presenting your designs to your client. Join us and expand your creative horizons. Refreshments will be served.
This is a two-day workshop beginning Saturday, December 1. Students must be available for both days of the workshop. Enrollment is open to Middle and High School students.- 12/8/2012
