Introduction to Computers

In this fun, hands-on course you will learn all the basic computer skills including using the mouse and keyboard, working in Microsoft Windows, using Microsoft Word, surfing the Internet and using Email. This course is ideal for someone who has a little experience with the computer but wants to know more.
Note: If you have never touched a computer or keyboard before, you may benefit from attending our Meet the Computer course prior to Introduction to Computers.

The Twitter Toolkit

Twitter is a fun way to keep in touch. People use the Twitter website to tell others what they’re doing right now and to see what other people are up to. In this course, you will learn all about Twitter, become a member of this free website and read and post messages online. After this course, you will be able to continue using Twitter on your own.

Stay and Play

Play is the natural activity of childhood. It is the way children learn about themselves, about others and about their world. Where's Waldo?

Where's Waldo? In Tucson, of course! The famous fellow in the striped shirt and black rimmed specs will be in twenty locations on 4th Avenue and in Downtown during the month of July. (Well, to be honest, it'll be a 6-inch version of Waldo.) Those who spot Waldo in 15 different locations can enter a raffle to win fabulous prizes.

Want to participate? Pick up a search list at Antigone Books (411 N 4th Avenue) or the children's section of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library (101 N Stone Avenue). Or, go to www.antigonebooks.com to download the list and to see the list of raffle prizes. Waldo fans of all ages are invited to participate.

You have from July 1 through July 30 to find Waldo.

Raffle winners will be chosen on July 31.

Facebook is the most popular social networking website in the world, with over 350 million active users. It’s a great way to stay in touch with family and friends. In this course, you will learn all about Facebook, become a member of this free website and post messages and photos online. After this course, you will be able to continue making friends and using Facebook on your own.

Learn how playing with your child can promote healthy cognitive and emotional development. Our playgroup includes songs, games and play that promote language acquisition, social/emotional skills, motor skills, and intellectual growth. Designed for 3- to 5-year-olds and their parents or caregivers. Stories are longer than the Toddler Storytime and the activities are more complex. Children must be able to sit still for a longer period of time than during Toddler Storytime. Preschool Storytime is 30 to 45 minutes long.
