Microsoft PowerPoint

Make a visual, on-screen slideshow presentation. Use design templates and text and content layouts; insert graphics, movies, sound, and learn to print an outline, notes and handouts. Mouse and keyboard skills or completion of the Get Started with the Computer class required.

This class is a two part series.

Family Storytime

Family Storytime is for all ages. It is an opportunity for parents to introduce their children to reading and language in a fun way.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel

This course teaches Microsoft Excel basics. Excel is a spreadsheet program that helps you manage mathematical information. It is frequently used in today’s workplace. Once you begin to understand the basics, you will find it is an easy and fun application to use. For example, you can use Excel to budget your personal finances and keep track of your investments. You can also use Excel to follow loan repayments, compare different mortgages, create invoices and more.
Prior experience with the computer and an understanding of the Windows operating system is recommended.

Drop In Computer Help

A computer instructor is available to answer any questions you might have on a wide variety of computer topics. Topics include how to obtain a free e-mail account, Microsoft Word, Internet browsing, the library catalog, library databases and more. Registration is not required.

Drop-in Job Help

Our computer instructor is available to answer any questions you might have on a wide variety of computer topics. Topics include resume writing, online job searching, email accounts, Internet searching and more. Signup is not required.

Free GED Preparation and Tutoring

At this drop-in session, get help from our tutors to get started preparing for the GED at your own pace. All classes are taught by Pima County Public Library tutors with Adult Education Certification, and will be taught in English. Students ages 16 and older can attend classes.

Please note that children cannot attend these classes. Parents must make their own child care arrangements for children under age 8.

Introduction to Computers

In this fun, hands-on course you will learn all the basic computer skills including using the mouse and keyboard, working in Microsoft Windows, using Microsoft Word, surfing the Internet and using Email. This course is ideal for someone who has a little experience with the computer but wants to know more.
Note: If you have never touched a computer or keyboard before, you may benefit from attending our Meet the Computer course prior to Introduction to Computers.

EITC / VITA Tax Preparation

IRS-trained volunteers will prepare federal and state income tax returns and counsel clients to make sure that that hard working families claim tax benefits for which they are eligible (EITC). The United Way can submit returns electronically for free.

AARP Tax-Aide Tax Preparation

Free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance serving low- and middle-income taxpayers with special attention to those ages 60 and older.

According to the AARP website, the tax help sessions "are the nation's largest, free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service. The program serves low- and middle-income taxpayers with special attention to those ages 60 and older."

Wolves: The Ancestors of Dogs

Jim Mitchell, a zoologist who has worked around the world, helps you to hear and see these wily canines in their native habitats. Persecuted and hunted to extinction or near extinction in many parts of the world, wolves have survived and are increasing in numbers in some areas. Not the creepy villains depicted in movies and novels, these mammals are interesting, complex and admirable.

In this course designed for beginners, you will learn the fundamentals of PowerPoint. Practice using text, pictures and clip art, and then edit your presentation to make it look professional.
General knowledge of the Windows operating system and some knowledge of Microsoft Word are recommended prerequisites.
