Sisters of the Earth Discussion Group

A monthly discussion presented by Dr. Barbara Gates on Nature Writing by American Women.

Readings will be from the book Sisters Of The Earth, copies of the book can be signed out at the Library Customer Service desk.

Registration required, call the library at 594-5580 starting December 9 to register for all 4 sessions, January 9, February 6, March 6, and April 3.

Selections for this month are "A White Heron" by Sarah Orne Jewett and "May’s Lion" by Ursula Le Guin.

Contemporary Literature Book Club

The Contemporary Literature Book Club is a friendly and informal group. New participants are always welcome! The group reads current literary fiction, including many Pulitzer Prize winners. Titles are selected based on group suggestions and availability through the library. All meetings are held on the second Thursday at 10 a.m. unless otherwise indicated.

Now Showing at Your Library! Las Marthas

Dating from the aftermath of the U.S.-Mexican War, the annual debutante ball in Laredo, Texas is unlike any other. Las Marthas follows two Mexican American girls carrying this gilded tradition on their young shoulders during a time of economic uncertainty and political tension over immigration.

Free Screenings of PBS films are made possible through a partnership with Independent Television Service Community Cinema, PBS Independent Lens, Arizona Public Media, and Pima County Public Library's Now Showing at Your Library documentary film series.
